Terrific Kids is a student-recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance. “Terrific” is an acronym for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable.
Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton has teamed with the Port Clinton City Schools to recognize outstanding elementary students as “Terrific Kids.” Terrific Kids are selected in each class each month to recognize students for working to the best of their ability to improve academic performance, behavior, relationships with peers, display honesty or attendance.
Champions for Children is a self-supported, after-school enrichment program available through the Port Clinton City School District and receives funding for scholarships from the Kiwanis and United Way.
Champions for Children is an award-winning, licensed after school program designed by Port Clinton City Schools for our district’s families. The self-supported program provides a home-like, instructional atmosphere where each child’s interests and needs are the primary focus. Children enrolled may choose from a wide range of activities including sports, arts and crafts, games, puzzles, educational materials, computers and movies. A special time is set aside for homework, reading or quiet academic activities. A healthy snack is served each day. Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton gives the Kiwanis Scholar Athlete Award to high school athletes who have successfully completed a semester grading period with a 3.5 or better and participated in a high school sport.
